Nottingham Forest have illustrated their financial muscle with the additions of Diogo Gonçalves and João Carvalho from Benfica, and it appears that Forest are primed to raid Portugal once more with the potential signing of Nikola Vukčević from Braga. Would the 26-year-old be a good addition to Aitor Karanka’s side?
According to the Portuguese outlet, A Bola, as cited by Sport Witness, Nottingham Forest are close to completing a deal for the Montenegro midfielder having been offered his services by the agent, Jorge Mendes. They also report, that Forest are hoping to emulate the success that Wolves attained in the Championship last year, who signed numerous players from the Liga Nos.
While the 26-year-old’s potential arrival will increase Forest’s profile in the Championship, would Vukčević be an intelligent signing for Aitor Karanka?
The midfielder has been at Braga throughout the entirety of his professional career, and he’s developed a reputation for being a competent defensive midfielder. One of the midfielder’s key attributes is his adaptability; he can operate as a defensive midfielder or in a more central role.
Furthermore, he is regarded for his exemplary concentration and refined passing ability. The 26-year-old performed relatively well for Braga last season, as he contributed towards four goals in 31 league games for the Portuguese outfit. Moreover, he has attained the experience of playing in the Europa League, which reinforces his calibre and potential utility for Nottingham Forest.
Having already concluded deals for two talented Liga Nos player, another quality reinforcement from the Portuguese league would demonstrate the extent of Karanka’s ambition, while further outlining Forest’s promotion desires.
Having already attained 28 international caps, a player of Vukčević’s experience, calibre and skill set would be a tremendous addition to the Portuguese side.
