The club have set a £12m asking price for Ben Brereton, according to the Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

Blackburn Rovers reportedly failed with a £5m offer earlier this summer for the teenager, but have returned with a second bid of £6m.

Clubs in the Championship can still loan players in view to a purchase before August 31st, and it seems the Lancashire club are hoping to land Brereton on such a deal prior to the window closing.

The 19-year-old did not feature in the squad for the penalty shoot-out win against Bury last night, and the Sun believes we are prepared to sell at the right price.

Blackburn now have money to spend with their owners Venkys prepared to bankroll Tony Mowbray in the transfer market following years without investment.
