Nottingham Forest are allegedly one of several teams who are interested in the services of Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison. The 24-year-old had an excellent season for the Posh, and he could prove to be a useful signing for Forest.

As Nottinghamshire Live reports, Nottingham Forest are interested in signing Peterborough’s Marcus Maddison.  Peterborough United’s director, Barry Fry, has confirmed that three clubs are interested in the services of the English midfielder.

Maddison is highly regarded for his versatility, as he can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger. One of the 24-year-old’s primary strengths is his goal-scoring ability. Since joining Peterborough in 2014, the midfielder has amassed a respectable total of 42 goals in 177 appearances.  12 of those goals were scored last season as the Englishman contributed purposefully to Peterborough’s ninth-place finish.

A shortage of goals was a severe issue for Forest last campaign, as they only managed a measly total of 51 goals in 46 league games. The addition of a player of Maddison’ profile could help enormously in negating Forest’s lack of goals.

Despite being vastly experienced, Maddison is still at an age where he can continue to learn, develop and prosper. Accordingly, he could prove to be a significant player for the Reds for years to come.  Indeed, if Forest succeed in their attempts to sign the midfielder, it would signify an excellent addition to the team.

His arrival will undoubtedly augment the quality of their midfield while providing Karanka’s team with greater attacking threat and creativity. If Nottingham Forest’s ambitions to achieve promotion to the Premier League, then it’s vital that goals are being scored from a variety of players across the team. The addition of Maddison would help fulfil that desire.

In an increasingly inflated market, the arrival of Maddison would represent an astute investment, one that casts an eye to the future while still improving the quality of the team.
